About the Role
They are currently seeking 2x highly motivated Senior Policy Advisors to join their team in Parramatta with the flexibility to work a few days per week from home.  These are an estimated 3-month temporary assignment, with the potential to extend.
  
Working within the Companion Animals Policy and Programs business unit, you will be responsible for identifying and analysing issues within the Companion Animals Act 1998 and Companion Animal Regulation 2018, whilst preparing and delivering draft advice. The key aim of the review is to implement improved solutions to responsible pet ownership across NSW, ensuring the well-being of pets and the safety of our communities. One of these vacancies primary responsibility will be leading a project which tracks application process and submissions, giving reporting and managing process. The other vacancy will be working on a legislative review.
  

    Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, review and delivery of strategic initiatives
  • Maintain efficient and effective administrative processes to ensure the timely and accurate provision of information
  • Undertake research, analysis and review of policy process to support informed decision making, evaluation and reporting outcomes
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation on policy issues applying best practice methodologies to identify and develop solutions and make recommendations.
  • Provide policy advice and subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop plans for improved solutions and delivery of policies and processes
  • Preparation of a wide range of project and policy related documents including briefs, status updates, discussion papers and reports
  • Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements

 
About You

  • Solid analytical, creative reasoning, problem solving and influencing skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
  
   
Requirements
  • Minimum 5years Policy or Project experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Policy, Law, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through extensive practical experience
  • Previous experience working on Animal Welfare, Animal Management or Environmental Policy desirable
  • Public Sector experience highly advantageous
  • Maintain current knowledge of contemporary trends and developments affecting Government Sector
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check 
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
