About the Company
Our large NSW State Government client is responsible for the management of the NSW Government’s social housing portfolio.


About the Role
This is a fabulous opportunity for multiple experienced Building Inspectors to join their rapidly growing team in Western Sydney including Parramatta and Liverpool. These are an estimated 2-month temporary assignment, with a strong potential to extend. 
 
Working within the Portfolio Management Assets Division, you will be required to undertake field inspections of asset maintenance works completed via contractors within a certain region/portfolio to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, contract requirements and company policies.

 
Responsibilities
  • Undertake field inspections and assessments of asset maintenance works completed
  • Be responsible for a certain region/portfolio/scope of works
  • Review and inspect all works are of a high quality and meets Australian Standards
  • Accurately report and maintain up to date records of inspections undertaken, outcomes and actions required
  • Utilise Property Assessment Survey (PAS) data to manage planned maintenance programs
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the different inspections and compliance programs
  • Build solid relationships with contractors to ensure effective delivery of maintenance works
  • Identify actions required, working with Contractors to actively resolve compliance issues
  • Issue non-compliance and other notices, where required
  • Manage tenant interactions, balancing tenant issues with the need to meet inspection requirements
  • Track, monitor and report emerging trends and issues, whilst mitigating risks
  • Make recommendations to continuous improvement
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity
  • Adhere to all WHS policies and procedures
 
 
About You
  • Demonstrated Construction Maintenance or Building Inspection experience
  • Public Sector experience highly desirable
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid analytical, investigative, consultation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite including Advanced Word, Excel and MS Project
 
Requirements
  • Trade Qualifications in Construction, Building, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrician or an equivalent field
  • Valid White Card
  • Thorough understanding of Australian Building Codes, Australian Standards, Government and Commercial Probity and Contracting Standards
  • Experienced in residential capital maintenance and upgrade works
  • Valid NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout Sydney Metropolitan and possibly Regional NSW
  • Valid Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
