About the Role
They are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team in Parramatta with the flexibility to work remotely from home a few days per week. This is an estimated 2-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.
 
Working within the Finance & Business Services team under the Directorate of Office of Deputy Secretary you will manage and maintain timely and accurate financial records including accounts payables, accounts receivables and general ledgers.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain timely and accurate financial records in Objective
  • Undertake full function accounts payable including creation of purchase orders, goods receipting, invoice verification, payment voucher creation and payment reconciliation
  • Assist in month end and year end activities including preparation of accrual journals, capital asset management, cashflow management, general ledger reconciliation, intercompany transaction and statutory reporting
  • Support in preparing project financial reporting
  • Complete project budgeting, forecasting, actual spending reporting, variance analysis and scenario modelling and analysis
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or an equivalent field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Accounting
  • Proven experience working within a high volume fast paced transactional environment
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Reliable remote internet access
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
