About the Company
Our large NSW State Government client is responsible for the management of the NSW Government’s Aboriginal housing portfolio.
About the Role
This is a fabulous opportunity for a Building Inspector, preferably with a NSW Builders licence to join their growing team in Parramatta with some flexibility to work a few days remotely from home. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment with a strong potential to extend.
Working within the Property Service Centre, you will be required to provide region-based services surrounding complex construction, modification, major renovations, maintenance of customer residences along with the management of external consultants, whilst providing guidance and support to Client Service Officers
Responsibilities
- End to end project management
- Review safety and compliance reports of works being undertaken by contractors to customer properties
- Scrutinise all works are of a high quality and meets Australian Standards, Safety and Compliance for insurance purposes
- Assess property condition, obtain repair cost quotations and refurbishment priority to address needs
- Accurately report and maintain up to date records of inspections undertaken, outcomes and actions required
- Build solid relationships with contractors to ensure effective delivery of maintenance works
- Maintain database with all completed inspections and assessments
- Identify actions required, working with Contractors to actively resolve compliance issues
- Issue non-compliance and other notices, where required
- Payment of contractor invoices
- Request funds from Client Service Officers
- Adhere to all WHS policies and procedures
About You
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across all levels
- Professional and confident in their abilities, resilient nature
- Solid analytical, investigative, consultation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
- High attention detail
Requirements
- Trade Qualifications in Construction, Building, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrician or an equivalent field
- Valid Builders License advantageous
- Thorough understanding of Australian Building Codes and Australian Standards
- Demonstrated Construction Maintenance or Building Inspection experience
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
- Public Sector experience highly desirable
- Project Management experience preferred
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
