Our large NSW State Government client delivers insurance and care services to the community of NSW. Whether a person is severely injured in the workplace or on our roads, they support their long-term care needs to improve quality of life outcomes, including helping people return to work.
About the role
They are currently seeking an experienced Compliance Advisor to join their Risk & Compliance team within the Risk & Governance Division.
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, this position plays a key role in ensuring the organisation meets its legal, regulatory, and internal policy obligations.
The role will focus on managing Information Access (GIPA) and Ombudsman-related matters, supporting compliance breach management, and providing advice to internal stakeholders. You will partner closely with business areas as the second line of defence, advising and enabling teams to identify, assess, and manage compliance matters and incidents in a consistent and systematic way.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued enhancement of the compliance culture and framework across a major NSW Government organisation.
Your duties will include, but won’t be limited to the following –
- Manage a case load of Information Access (GIPA) and Ombudsman-related matters to ensure timely and accurate responses to external stakeholders.
- Undertake research to identify applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies affecting the organisation.
- Provide guidance and interpretation on regulatory obligations to support business compliance.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and contribute to ongoing monitoring and reporting.
- Evaluate policies, procedures, and controls to identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare reports on the effectiveness of compliance management systems and initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a strong compliance culture.
To be successful in this great assignment you will have the following –
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in compliance, legal, or risk management roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (or equivalent qualification).
- Demonstrated expertise in Information Access (GIPA) matters.
- Strong understanding of compliance and/or risk frameworks.
- Experience working within insurance or government sectors highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to undergo relevant pre-employment checks.
