About the Client
Our large NSW State Government client is responsible for the management of the NSW Government's Aboriginal housing portfolio.
 
About the Role
They are currently seeking a highly experienced Financial Analyst to join their team in Parramatta. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.
 
In this role, you will undertake the following duties:
 
  • Generating monthly management reports, involving tasks like reconciling the general ledger, balance sheet, creating pertinent journal entries (including AASB16 fleet recognition, accruals and prepayments).
  • Monthly Blackline reconciliation.
  • Preparing and reporting on cash flow forecasts.
  • Engaging in business partnering activities for various directorates within AHO.
  • Monthly Treasury reporting using PRIME portal and providing commentaries to Treasury and interagency departments.
  • Reconciliation of monthly Payroll related entries and workers compensation reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation of AHO Insurance Claims and Recoveries monthly.
  • Management of Grants and fees for shared services schedule.
  • Managing and updating information on data systems specifically designed for AHO.
  • Crafting periodic management and financial reports, incorporating variance analysis and detailed commentaries.
  • Reviewing credit card, Purchase order, fleet, telephone and travel transactions.
  • Proactively addressing outstanding items with relevant suppliers and vendors.
  • Providing necessary information to auditors and fulfilling year-end audit requirements.
  • Ensuring financial reporting and advice is accurate, reliable and high quality to support effective decision making.
  • Developing systems, processes and reporting to enable high standards of financial analysis and improve AHO financial analysis knowledge and usage.
  • Maintaining a detailed and current knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury Directions and the Public Finance and Audit Act.  
 
About you
To be successful in this great assignment, you will have the following -
 
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated financial analysis and financial reporting experience
  • Public Sector experience desirable
  • Impeccable communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Solid analytical, investigative, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite and SAP
  • Advanced Excel Skills including pivots, charts, formulas and database building
  • Superior organisational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
  • Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
