Looking to break into Supply Chain | Rhodes location
Candidates from Business Advisory encouraged to apply
Full-time | $95-$105k plus Super depending on experience

We are partnering with a leading global supply chain and logistics business with a highly asset-intensive operation across warehouses and transport fleets, MHE, racking, automation and IT infrastructure. With ongoing investment in new sites, technology and equipment, they are looking for a commercially minded Fixed Assets Accountant to take ownership of the fixed asset function and establish a robust tax asset register for the Australian business.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong Accountant who enjoys working close to operations, understands or wants to deepen exposure to tax treatment of fixed assets, and is comfortable building structure and process in a fast-paced environment.

The opportunity
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Own the end-to-end  fixed asset lifecycle: additions, disposals, transfers, impairments and reclassifications.
  • Maintain and improve the  fixed asset register, ensuring alignment with GL, project accounting and operational records.
  • Establish and maintain a  tax asset register, including tax-effective lives, pooling, balancing adjustments and reconciliation to statutory fixed asset registers.
  • Prepare and review  depreciation calculations  (accounting and tax), journals and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure capex is correctly capitalised (vs opex), supported, and aligned to contracts and project approvals.
  • Support  capex governance: tracking project spend, monitoring WIP, and ensuring timely capitalisation on project completion.
  • Provide analysis and commentary on asset utilisation, disposals, write-offs and impairments to support decision-making.
  • Assist with  tax compliance  relating to fixed assets (e.g. tax return schedules, temporary differences, capital allowances) in collaboration with Group Tax.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and respond to queries for  external audit and internal audit.
  • Identify and drive  process improvements  in fixed asset recording, controls and reporting, including automation and improved data quality.
About you
This opportunity would be suited to either a Financial Accountant working in commercial or you might be somebody that is coming from business advisory in a chartered accounting environment  looking to break into an in-house role.
You will likely bring:
  • CA/CPA qualification (or near-complete), with 3-5+ years' experience in  financial accounting.
  • Experience in a  capital-intensive environment  (e.g. logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, mining, transport or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of  fixed assets accounting: capitalisation rules, depreciation, WIP, disposals, impairments and reconciliations.
  • Exposure to  tax concepts  for fixed assets (capital allowances, effective lives, tax vs accounting depreciation, temporary differences); hands-on experience with tax asset registers is highly regarded.
  • Solid Excel skills and experience with large ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, JDE, D365, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail, comfort with large data sets and a disciplined approach to reconciliations and controls.
  • Confidence liaising with operations, project managers and commercial teams to validate asset information and challenge assumptions where needed.
  • A continuous improvement mindset - you enjoy fixing processes, not just repeating them.
What's on offer
  • The chance to  build and own  the fixed asset and tax asset register in a large, complex business.
  • Exposure to major warehouse, automation and fleet investments and the opportunity to work closely with operations.
  • Supportive finance leadership that values accuracy, insight and process improvement.
  • Competitive salary, bonus and benefits, with genuine scope to grow your career within a global group.
