The Role
Reporting to the Director and working closely with the CFO, you will oversee the procurement of materials, fittings, and components vital for the delivery of large-scale commercial projects. This includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, maintaining inventory, and ensuring material availability to meet production timelines and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for the best quality and pricing of raw materials.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and negotiate favourable credit terms.
- Accurately record and communicate pricing to the Estimating and Accounts teams.
- Create and manage purchase orders in Xero, ensuring correct allocation to general ledger codes.
- Collaborate with Estimating, Project, and Accounts Teams on projects and finishes schedules.
- Support the production team by maintaining an up-to-date materials library and sample boards.
- Ensure accurate and compliant purchasing documentation and controls.
- Contribute to project profitability through smart purchasing decisions.
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within manufacturing, joinery, furniture, or related industries.
- Understanding of material types and manufacturing processes.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven ability to secure best value in purchasing.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in financial and inventory management.
- Experience with Xero or similar inventory/accounting software is highly desirable.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel
- Team player with excellent communication and a collaborative approach.
