About the Role
Ready to make a lasting impact across regional NSW? Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled Transactions Manager with Land Acquisitions experience to join their expanding team in Parramatta OR Sydney CBD with some flexibility to work a few days from home per week. This is a 7month temporary assignment, with a strong potential to extend.
  
Join a high-performing team working on a critical government infrastructure initiative. You’ll play a key role in managing property acquisitions as well as ensuring legislative requirements are met by assisting in the management of OSL functions including identifying and managing land for strategic acquisition for open space, environmental conservation, infrastructure, transport corridors, coastal lands and other State Government priorities.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments for acquiring land across Sydney and regional NSW in accordance with the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991
  • Partner with Government bodies and Councils to develop Memorandum of Understanding agreement documentation
  • Produce a range of other written agreements, reports, briefings, correspondence and recommendations for executive review
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with private landowners and stakeholders to facilitate engagement and open flow of communication
  • Obtain and provide information, responding to enquiries whilst facilitating the resolution of disputes effectively  
  • Work with external service providers such as valuers, environmental specialists and town planners to determine appropriate compensation for acquisition of land
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives whilst mitigating risks
  • Communicate high quality and timely advice to Senior Management and the Executive to deliver on Acquisitions and Divestments programs
  • Assist in the management of budget and other resources
  • Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements
  
About You
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage sensitive negotiations.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Professional, empathetic and resilient with a commitment to ethical practice
  • Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
   
Requirements
  • Qualifications in Property, Land Economics, Town Planning or other related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in Land Acquisition and Transactions Management
  • Government or Council Sector experience highly advantageous
  • Thorough understanding of Government’s planning framework including acquisitions, disposals and management of lands for public purposes
  • Experience in application and interpretation of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991
  • Valid Driver’s licence and own reliable transport
  • Ability to commence immediately and commit to the duration of the assignment
