Financial Accountant — CBD | National Multi-Site Business
This is an opportunity to join a well-established national organisation where Finance plays a critical role in supporting operational performance, investment decisions and sustainable growth. You will work in a dynamic, commercially focused environment, partnering with operational and corporate stakeholders to deliver accurate reporting, strong controls and meaningful financial insight.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be a key member of the Financial Accounting team. This is a varied, hands-on role with responsibility across month-end reporting, reconciliations, process improvement, and finance automation initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
- Complete high-volume branch bank reconciliations across a national network.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity and completeness of the general ledger.
- Investigate financial variances, resolve issues and provide clear commentary where required.
- Assist with monthly management reporting, financial analysis and ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Prepare, maintain and review balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding reconciling items and ensure these are cleared in a timely manner.
- Support fixed-asset accounting, including depreciation and asset-register processes.
- Maintain strong financial controls, compliance standards and documentation.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure financial data is accurate, complete and reliable.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes and reduce reliance on spreadsheets or repetitive tasks.
- Contribute to finance transformation and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Improve reporting efficiency, workflow quality and data accuracy across the finance function.
You will be a technically capable accountant with a strong foundation in financial accounting, reconciliations and month-end reporting. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, working through complex data and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
You will also bring a naturally curious mindset—you ask "why," challenge inefficient processes constructively and look for practical ways to improve the finance function.
