The Opportunity

We are partnering with a NSW Government department to recruit an experienced Project Officer to support the delivery of key initiatives across the Housing and Community Services portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to projects that directly impact communities, improve service delivery and drive meaningful outcomes across the state.

About the Role

We’re looking for a calm, people-focused Assistant Project Officer to be the first point of contact for tenants in government housing who have repair or maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of multiple projects across the Housing portfolio
  • Coordinate project schedules, resources and key deliverables
  • Monitor project progress and track milestones against plans
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project development
  • Prepare reports, presentations and project documentation
  • Coordinate meetings, take minutes and follow up on action items
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support project outcomes
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and operational efficiency
About You
  • Previous experience in a Project Officer or Project Support role 
  • Take calls and enquiries about repairs and maintenance
  • Log and track requests, keeping tenants updated
  • Liaise with trades, contractors and internal teams to resolve issues
  • Analyse whether the proposed maintenance plan is accurate and appropriate based on the complaint
  • Experience in building maintenance management or customer service is required, along with the ability to handle complaints with empathy and professionalism.
  • Experience working within government or large, complex environments is highly regarded
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to support research and reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
