Financial Accountant - Tax and Fixed Assets Specialist
Looking to break into Supply Chain | Rhodes location
Candidates from Business Advisory encouraged to apply
Full-time | $100-$120k plus Super depending on experience
We are partnering with a leading global supply chain and logistics business with a highly asset-intensive operation spanning warehouses, transport fleets, MHE, racking, automation, and IT infrastructure. With ongoing investment in new sites, technology, and equipment, they are seeking a commercially minded Financial Accountant with strong tax compliance capability and a genuine interest in fixed assets and process improvement. The role sits in a complex, fast-paced environment where accuracy, controls and cross-functional partnering are essential.
This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working close to operations, understands the tax treatment of fixed assets, and is comfortable building structure, improving processes and supporting strong financial governance.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will:
- Own the end-to-end fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, disposals, transfers, impairments, and reclassifications.
- Establish and maintain a tax asset register, including effective lives, pooling, balancing adjustments and reconciliation to statutory fixed asset registers.
- Prepare and review depreciation calculations, journals and reconciliations for both accounting and tax purposes.
- Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure capex is correctly capitalised rather than expensed, with appropriate support and approval.
- Manage or support procure-to-pay activities, including invoice processing, 3-way match, exception resolution and vendor master data governance.
- Support banking and treasury operations, including payment controls, bank mandates, cash management and payment file integrity.
- Contribute to month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and analytical review.
- Assist with statutory financial statements, audit requests and reporting deadlines.
- Support indirect and direct tax compliance activities, including BAS/GST, income tax support and tax workpapers.
- Help maintain internal controls, governance registers and documentation across finance processes.
This opportunity would suit either a Financial Accountant in a commercial environment or someone from business advisory in a chartered accounting firm looking to step into an in-house role. You will likely bring:
- CA/CPA qualification, or near completion, with 3-5+ years' experience in financial accounting.
- Experience in a capital-intensive environment such as logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, mining or transport.
- Experience with Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firms supporting clients with tax compliance welcome to apply
- Strong working knowledge of fixed assets accounting, including capitalisation rules, depreciation, WIP, disposals, impairments and reconciliations.
- Solid Excel skills and experience with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE or D365.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in strengthening process, governance and system efficiency.
- Exposure to PTP, treasury, statutory reporting or broader tax compliance will be highly regarded.
- The chance to build and own the fixed asset and tax asset register in a large, complex business.
- Exposure to major warehouse, automation and fleet investments, with close collaboration across operations.
- Broader finance exposure across tax, controls, PTP, treasury and statutory reporting.
- Supportive finance leadership that values accuracy, insight and process improvement.
- Genuine scope to grow your career within a global group.
Applications will be reviewed for this role and only suitable applicants will be contacted. Please apply by submitting your resume via the "Apply Now" tab to be considered for the role.
