In this role, you will manage and oversee end‑to‑end import ocean freight shipments while acting as the primary point of contact for your customers.
You’ll ensure service commitments are met, build strong client relationships, and identify opportunities to add value. You will also play an important role in supporting the growth of the ocean freight function through efficient operations, accurate invoicing and continuous improvement.
You will be expected to uphold regulatory and compliance standards and respond promptly to customer issues to maintain trust and loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
- To arrange the timely and efficient handling of all required Import documentation in accordance with customer and destination requirements.
- To facilitate bookings with carriers / co-loaders and executing all pertinent shipping documentation.
- To create and confirm transport orders to ensure pickup of the shipment at origin and following up on shipment status within the Import area.
- Identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposing solutions to improve operations.
- To be a key contact for customers; handling customer inquiries and requests and assisting with customer complaints resolution.
- To proactively communication to customers regarding shipment status and exceptions.
- To manage the day-to-day Import transactional and operational requirements.
About You
- 2–5 years’ experience in ocean shipping and/or international freight forwarding, with a focus on imports.
- Experience using CargoWise (or similar freight forwarding system) – highly regarded but not essential.
- A strong drive for results, using your strengths to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
- The ability to contribute to a culture of trust, collaboration and shared purpose.
- A positive, resilient mindset with the ability to stay focused through change and challenges.
- A strong team orientation and “will to win”, looking for opportunities to learn and grow.
