Our client is a well-established Australian company specialising in premium product solutions for the automotive sector, with a broad export footprint.
 
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced and commercially minded Purchasing Manager to take ownership of procurement and inventory management across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supplier partnerships, purchasing strategy, inventory planning and ensuring the supply chain is set up to support ongoing growth and operational success.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support business growth and operational requirements.
  • Manage domestic and international supplier relationships, including pricing, terms, lead times and supply agreements.
  • Oversee the purchasing process from purchase order placement through to delivery and supplier performance management.
  • Lead inventory planning and forecasting to maintain stock availability while minimising excess inventory.
  • Monitor global supply chain trends, freight costs and market conditions to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with Sales, Warehouse, Operations and R&D teams to align procurement activity with business priorities and new product development.
  • Manage import processes and ensure compliance with customs, trade and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse purchasing data and report on supplier performance, stock levels, purchasing trends and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across procurement and supply chain processes.
About You:  
  • Experience in a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, Supply Chain Manager or similar leadership role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to build effective supplier relationships.
  • Experience with inventory forecasting, demand planning and stock management.
  • Strong understanding of international sourcing, freight, logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Background in automotive, manufacturing, wholesale distribution or a related industry will be highly regarded.
