Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for a role where you can take ownership of both financial accounting and a high-volume AP function?

Our client is a well-established organisation within the   logistics sector , and they are looking for a capable and detail-focused Senior Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play an important role across the Australian and New Zealand operations, with responsibility for month-end accounting and key supplier accounts.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing month-end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Preparing management accounts and supporting month-end reporting
• Analysing actuals against budget and providing commentary on variances
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and GST requirements
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting and reconciliation
• Supporting year-end audit processes, budgets and rolling forecasts
• Managing high-volume accounts payable across Australian and New Zealand operations
• Reconciling major supplier accounts and following up outstanding invoices
• Managing invoice queries and resolving discrepancies

About You 

• Proven experience in a similar Assistant Accountant position
• A degree or relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
• Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills and experience with an ERP
• Experience working with high-volume accounts payable
• Excellent attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
• The ability to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders
• A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• The confidence to work independently while contributing positively to the wider finance team
