About the Opportunity

Take the lead in a growing heavy equipment business where your technical expertise, leadership and ideas can make a real impact.
An established manufacturer and supplier of premium heavy capital equipment is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead its service function in Western Sydney.
This is an opportunity to build on an established operation, develop a capable team and shape how the service business grows. You will combine people leadership, technical support and commercial management, with scope to improve processes, strengthen customer relationships and drive profitable service delivery.

Your Role:
  • Manage service and warranty issues through to effective and commercially sound resolution.
  • Develop and implement process controls to improve efficiency, reduce waste and increase profitability.
  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations across service, spare parts, warranty and administration.
  • Manage branch resources and budgets to support efficient, effective and safe service delivery.
  • Lead and support a team of technicians, including performance management, technical support, training and development.
  • Review and follow up service proposals, quotations, deliveries and related customer requirements.
  • Maintain service reporting, analyse activity and performance, and forecast service requirements.
  • Participate in or observe repairs, commissioning and equipment operation as required to support appropriate job planning.
  • Represent the service business with customers, suppliers and government departments.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to the National Manager, sales teams and other branches as required.
About You:

You are a technically capable leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems and improving how a service operation performs.

You will bring:
  • Experience managing a service, technical support, aftermarket or product support function within heavy equipment, capital equipment, industrial machinery or a similar environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical systems.
  • A track record of leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
  • Commercial and operational capability across budgets, resource planning, reporting and forecasting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with customers, colleagues and technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • A hands-on approach, with the willingness to provide technical support and participate in workshop and service activities when required.
  • A degree or higher qualification in mechanical, hydraulic or electrical engineering will be highly regarded; equivalent trade experience and technical skills will also be considered.
