We're partnering with a market leader manufacturing company who is seeking a strong leader to drive its innovation and product development function.
 
The Role
 
In this role, you will drive and elevate innovation and product development across multiple streams, shaping how teams are structured, how they operate, and how they deliver. 
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Functional Leadership

• Lead multiple innovation and product development streams across the business
• Set clear priorities, operating rhythms, and governance across the function
• Ensure the function is structured to support current delivery and future growth

Capability Building

• Build and strengthen engineering and product development capability across people, process, and systems
• Establish repeatable ways of working that improve quality, speed, and consistency
• Develop functional maturity and create a more scalable operating model

Talent and Succession Development

• Develop future leaders, senior technical talent, and graduate pathways within the team
• Build depth, succession, and long-term capability across the function
• Create an environment that supports performance, development, and retention

Portfolio and Resource Prioritisation

• Balance resources, priorities, and delivery demands across multiple programs or product streams
• Support broader decision-making on where effort, capability, and investment should be directed
• Ensure resources are aligned to the highest-value work

Cross-Functional and Strategic Influence

• Partner with senior stakeholders across Quality, Operations, Commercial, and Leadership
• Influence how innovation and product development supports broader business objectives
• Help shape the future structure and capability of the engineering function

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience leading innovation, engineering, or product development functions within a manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environment.
• Proven ability to lead multiple teams, workstreams, or portfolios while improving how the function operates overall
• Strong experience building capability, structure, process maturity, and team effectiveness
• Track record of leading and developing future leaders, senior technical talent, and emerging capability
• Strong understanding of product development operating models, governance, prioritisation, and scalable ways of working
• Experience influencing across Quality, Operations, Commercial, and Leadership stakeholders
• Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to translate direction into practical execution
• Effective leader with the ability to build alignment, maturity, and sustainable performance across a broader scope

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Development, Industrial Design Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline
• Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Innovation, Leadership, Business, or Management is desirable
• Formal leadership, program, or organisational development training is advantageous
